Are you pregnant?

Your first step is to find out if you are actually pregnant. A missed period is the most common indication, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re pregnant.

 

Pregnancy tests are an indicator of pregnancy, not a confirmation.

 

Pregnancy tests can provide invalid results, and false positives can still happen. Hormonal changes, stress, diet, and exercise all influence your cycle and reproductive health. Home tests can produce incorrect results for other reasons as well.  An ultrasound is the only method that can 100% confirm your pregnancy and determine how far along you are.

why would i need an ultrasound before an abortion?

If you are considering abortion, it is very important that you first have an ultrasound to see if the pregnancy is viable. Abortion types vary depending on how far along you are which can also only be verified through a diagnostic ultrasound.​

The Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre is a community-based, Christian charitable organization.  Our goal is to provide accurate information, relevant care and support to the clients we serve.  Although we do not provide or assist in abortion services, it is our desire that every woman in Norfolk County who is facing ambivalence around an abortion decision has a place to go for accurate information. We are not a medical centre and we do not offer medical services. We provide support for unexpected pregnancy. As such, we do not provide:
Ongoing primary healthcare
Birth coaching or doulas
Contraception or abortion-related services
Ongoing prenatal care
We do not provide Pap tests.
